Reader Question: Modern Peacock Decor by Nisha Chandra Events

Last week, we put a call to our Facebook readers that we will be choosing a Reader Question to answer on our blog soon. We received a lot of great questions and we’ve been slowly getting back to you all but one particular one caught my eye:

Dear ModernRani,

I got engaged over the holidays and already decided my wedding theme – peacock colours. Can you provide some inspiration how I can use peacock colours but make it modern?

Why did this question interest me when a peacock theme is one of the last colour palettes that I would choose or recommend for a wedding theme? I took it upon as a challenge to find decor that met the reader’s criteria and was something I was excited to share. I was looking for decor inspiration that incorporated the traditional colours of a peacock theme but was presented with a modern touch. More importantly, I was looking for inspiration from local vendors.

Luckily, Nisha from Nisha Chandra Events has an entire album devoted to these colours in inspiration she calls 'modern peacock’.

Reader Question: Elegant Updos

Thank you to everyone who has submitted a question via the Ask Maharani feature. We've gotten some really good questions and I'm slowly trying to make my way through answering them (if you indicate an e-mail, we can get back to you). Here's one question that didn't have an e-mail contact so I thought I share it with all our readers (not edited from original reader submission):

Dear ModernRani,

My wedding is in summer and for the reception I want to put my hair up not let it down. If I let it down, my face will be oily at the end of the day and I can’t enjoy dancing around if I worry about my hair.

There are nice pictures of brides with updo hairstyles but it’s hard to find nice ones for brown brides. Usually their hairstyle is hidden under the dupatta or they show a hairstyle with it let out.
Can you help me?
